Pitch Your Ideas (U21: P4, M3)
Learning Objective: Be able to pitch ideas on a proposed media product and respond to questions
This is my final pitch that I presented to a client :
- Worries that having only 600 physical copies will make it an online magazine
From this piece of feedback, I understand that I need to expand the number of physical copies so that I cover both mediums. It is important to ensure that there are enough print copies as this is what the client has specified, as well as keeping an online presence.
- Criticism towards the magazine being sold in corner shops
I understand that selling my physical magazine exclusively in corner shops may be considered slightly strange, but I feel this gives the magazine a USP and will integrate well into peoples lives considering all people use corner shops in North London.
- Criticism towards the font for "Magazine"
I understand that my critic was not best pleased with my choice of font for the word "magazine" so I have decided to make the font for "flow" and "magazine" the same. I have also decided to go for a font that was in a graffiti style but still easily readable.
- Demographic is too wide (Make it 16 to 25)
I understand that my previously wide age bracket was too wide and would be difficult to market to due to it being so broad. My response to this feedback was reducing my age bracket to make it much more specific. Therefore I understand that I need to change this age in order to appeal more to them.
- Marketing should include posters
I understood that this feedback was telling me to print posters to market my magazine which initially wasn't my idea. Upon reflection, I decided that posters where in fact a good idea, and that I would put them in music venues that play Hip Hop in North London because that is where my target audience would see them.
- Must make sure artists promote the magazine correctly
I understand that my critic was concerned that having artists promote my magazine without any sort of guidance could go wrong in that the magazine could be wrongfully represented in a way that I don't want. In response to this, I have decided that I will give artists a template with images and text regarding the magazine for them to post on social media in order to prevent the magazine from being wrongfully represented.
